Job Title: General Manager
Location: Gerrards Cross
Reporting to: Group Chairman
Direct Reports: Local Branch Managers, Group Hire Manager, Department Heads and Gerrards Cross personnel
Hours: 40 hours per week (8.30am to 5.30pm)
Job Purpose
To be responsible for the overall management and development of all Edric AV branches; Gerrards Cross, Manchester, Birmingham and Bristol, ensuring the smooth, effective and profitable running of the branch network alongside the day-to-day management of the Gerrards Cross (Head Office) branch.
Role Responsibilities
To develop proactively business and ensure future revenue streams are targeted and that Edric AV product and service offering drives business growth
To support, mentor and motivate:
...in the development of branch and departmental turnover/profitability through increased hire, sales, production and conference turnover, maintaining and developing gross profit
To manage specific local branch needs and distinct requirements
To work with the branch/department heads to establish budgets, including areas such as salaries, purchasing and invoicing, fuel costs, credit cards and petty cash
To ensure all branch/departmental processes, procedures and financial reporting mechanisms are in place
To assess best utilisation of equipment, ensuring it is maintained and stored appropriately and specifying and purchasing new equipment as necessary
To ensure stock is effectively controlled and managed with HireTrack software and associated processes
To negotiate the best supplier relationships possible to ensure profitability of activities
To lead Health and Safety across all branches ensuring each branch has procedures in place and follows accordingly
To co-ordinate and attend Quarterly Branch/Hire Meetings as necessary
To provide Company information and reports to Group Chairman and Group Financial Director
To account manage clients; meeting clients regularly and developing effective client relationships
To market Edric AV ensuring external and internal communication supports business growth including but not limited to website, Google Adwords, SEO brochures and direct mail ensuring all branches monitor response and follow up on generated enquiries
To assist Group Marketing Department with local and national marketing and communication activities
To liaise with the Group HR Department
To liaise with other Group Companies
To undertake any other duties as defined by the Group Chairman as being within the scope and range of the role
Gerrards Cross specific responsibilities
To maintain branch facilities and offices to a high standard and ensure other branches have processes in place to maintain the same high standard throughout Edric AV network
To ensure the branch operates in accordance with all applicable Health and Safety legislation including PAT testing
To ensure branch vehicles are insured, maintained and serviced regularly, that all branches operate within insurance stipulations and that temporary replacement vehicle costs are within the existing cost allocation
To lead Health and Safety across all branches ensuring each branch has procedures in place and follows accordingly
To be responsible for overall branch staffing; including the management of holiday, sickness and training and development of people
To book in-house and freelance crew as required
To ensure that branch premises are fully operational and maintained appropriately and securely
To be responsible for establishing and working to the branch budget for Gerrards Cross
Person Specification
Intelligent, energetic and bright; excellent business acumen and professional knowledge developed in the audio visual industry or associated industry
Highly developed finance and budgeting skills – good track record in undertaking, developing and delivering profitable projects
Experience in managing health and safety across different organisations within AV industry
Broad management experience with the ability to establish and develop branches
Excellent account management and development skills with the ability to build good business relationships both within Edric and with contacts in client organisations
Ability to plan and prioritise, including organisational skills and time management
Ability to manage multiple ongoing projects
High attention to detail
IT competency to office application standard
A full driving licence is required for this role and the ability to travel between branch locations
